TKMB post#7

Jem
I never new why some one would drink whisky the whole day. Today I leaned that Mr. Dolphus Raymond is a person that doesn’t live like everybody thinks he does. He live that way because he likes it that way and people believe that drinking is the cause of his problems but really those are just how he likes to live, but he doesn’t want to show them that their all wrong and that’s just the way he is cause he doesn’t think that he has to prove to people that’s the way he lives just so they understand him. When we went back to the court room it was Atticuses closing state meant and it sounded so food they would have to be fool not to take he side I felt.
It was horrible Calpurnia walk into the court room and it hit me right their that she was looking for us there would be no other reason for her being their. She approached him and gave him a note and it felt like my heart stopped. He read it and found out we weren’t at home and then he told it to the court room, and I was wondering what they will say if he leaves then no one could take over his place and tom will lose. But then the judge said that where here and I thought I died right their.
I felt so bad to find out after all that that the people feel that Tom was lying. Everyone new it wasn’t right but it just shows how raises this country really is. I started crying because it was to much we tried so hard all for nothing so why did we try I thought. Well I soon found out it was because we always need to try and people like my dad are their for people that need help for the right reasons.

Toms point of view
This could be one of the worst days in my life I can’t believe that they really think I raped her. I am sure it is because I am black I wish this county didn’t care about color but that isn’t something that I can change by my self they are the ones in power. This is no far this not complacently in this case they are all lying they are just believing what one person has said. Well I feel it may not be the same for me. I hope the will believe the truth. Even the sheriff is against me it seems this is terrible.
The sheriff is either lying and he doesn’t remember what happened and he is just going with what the other person has said in this case because he is also raises and didn’t know the whole side of the story and just because I ran away after words. Mr.Ewells was still their and then the sheriff came he could have told him anything just to make me look bad I new something bad was going to happen but I wouldn’t thing it would escalate to this situation.
After the sheriff was on the stand it was time for Mayella to come up. I was hoping that she was going to tell the truth but it seemed that her father would have killed her if she said the right thing. I was very scared she said I shouldn’t be let free practically, and that really hurt my heart. In a way I can’t blame her because she probably would have got beet even more, unless Mr.Ewells would go to jail. But that would mess up their whole family I couldn’t let that happen but I didn’t want it to end the other way also.
After she was done I was asked to the stand I just went up their and told the truth knowing they wouldn’t believe me now but still I would hope so. I told then that I was just helping her get something and then I fell and she hugged me and kissed me indulgently. After that in the window was Mr. Ewells because he wasn’t being oblivious he came in yelling at Mayellaz and calling her a whore and threatening to kill her. I was very scared so I ran I wasn’t about to be encumbered to get a way. If I staid that would have been the end of me and dispelled. He had to beat her and tell the sheriff I raped her and forced her to tell him that and agree with it.

TKMB post#5

jems point of view
I love Aunt Alexandra but that is the one person that I get annoyed of the most on this whole world she thinks she is so infallible. I like her stories she tells us and I like her as a person but she is trying to take over and fit in somewhere were she doesn’t belong. I am not trying to be mean but she can’t fit into our society. She already got to know everyone though just because this is a small town everyone knows everyone she isn’t special. I am not saying that she should leave just because of my opinions. But if other people the same way I would like to take a little brake from my aunt. Atticus tells me that it is mean and we just can’t kick her out even if he would do something like that. If she doesn’t like it here then she will leave on here own I hope.
I am also getting tired of Scout in a way. I keep telling her she can hate our aunt all she wants but as long as she doesn’t show it to her face, and she won’t acquire it in her head. I was starting to get along with her a little better, but it disappointed me when we found out that she was trying to get rid of Cal for a lot of reasons like ecclesiastical and being fine with races . Atticus would never let her go after what we have been through he is very pensive person. I am also mad that scout attacked me after I was trying to help her and give her advice. Atticus came and had to extract us from each other Something that help me was I found out Dill was back and that he ran away to chill with us.
It was nice having Dill around now scout has her entertainment and doesn’t have to bother me. I soon found out now it was just both instead of just one. I over hear a conversation with Atticus and our aunt to find out that she thinks that he shouldn’t be part of the case just because they feel that it is bringing shame to the family. I say my father talking to someone and they told me to leave and then the man was starting to say I have to leave or something bad would happen it seemed.

TKMB post#4

This is Jems view.

I was so mad that a lot of people in the town did a lot of neat things. But by dad didn’t do anything or at least I thought so at first. When Scout and I were playing out side one day Scout started saying something about a sick looking dog I didn’t think of anything of it at first. Then she told cal about it and then they told everybody that it had mad dog everyone one seemed they were in peril. I didn’t now what it was at first but then I remember that is was like when a dog went crazy like rabies. I didn’t see why everyone was freaking out. The whole city was locked up it seemed but then Atticus came with the sheriff and I could tell what was happing at first he was talk to the sheriff, and then he gave him a gun and I wouldn’t think that they were going to shoot him. I also didn’t think my dad would be able to shoot him and then he aimed on it and stood their for a second then pulled the trigger. It was very fast I almost missed the bullet emerge with the bog but then I looked at the right time and saw the dog fall.
Soon enough I found out about my fathers past because after that shot people would start to notice and remember him again. He use to be a very good shooter one of the best but I was wondering why he didn’t tell us. Cal told us how good he was and how he would never miss a shot. I soon found out he didn’t want to brag or seem like he was because he new he had a talent and he didn’t want to abuse it. I told scout to not tell people and understand it in Atticuses view. Knowing her she would tell people just to brag because now she can say something about our dad.
I felt bad for braking Scouts new toy and I regret braking Mrs.Dubose flowers so I didn’t have to go over to her house the whole time just to pay her back for what I did I extracted her flower for her. I was defending Atticus and he told me why I shouldn’t have done that he was being cantankerous. I listen to him and in the end I didn’t contradict his words. I had to go to her house every day for about 2 hours I couldn’t take it at fist all she did was yell at us and be rude and mean. After 1 mouth and a week I got out of that place for good. I felt bad and sad at first when I found out she died. I didn’t know what to do.
I also did something I have never done before and never suspect to do. Cal took us to a black peoples church and I was very interesting a lot of people where singing and I was all for their freedom and how they where thanking god for everything. I saw many random things at the church I found out about Tom Robinson and how he is accuses of rape. Over all I had a good time and it was fun.

TKMB post#3

It was a very cold hard winter and one of the ingenuous Radleys past away. The kids would stop asking what happen to her because they were saying that Boo Radley was the one who killed her. But I wasn’t going to let my kids’ harass the fact that it was just out of natural causes. After they got that out of their sister Dill came back it was nice to see him around playing with Scout every now and then. At least she wasn’t trying to hang out with Boo anymore I feel that he is trouble and may have a bad influence on scout.
Also it was very remarkable for it to start snowing here it hasn’t snowed since 1885. Scout has never seen snow before and neither has Jem they started to work on something in the snow and as I came back from work I look and my yard has very little snow on it and this mad me think what could have happened? When I arrive at the door Scout and Jem tell me that they made a snow man. I was really happy that they were using their minds and being creative and having fun.
I was sleeping and I awoke to a rude awakening. I scrub my eyes and walk down the hall to get a drink I was walking and I hear a lot of crumbling and people yelling. I look down the hall and see a bright red light on the wall I walk closer and look out the window and see the biggest flames I have ever seen it was like twenty feet tall flames around the whole house. Their were a few people but I thought about it and noticed that it could speed to other houses. I woke up the kids and they rushed outside and mad them walk down the street to safety go somewhere isolated. Do not be adjacent to the fire. By the time I got to the house people were pushing a fire truck to the house. It was crazy everybody was running around causing habit people weren’t staying calm. After a few hours the house went down in one giant flame rose soon enough it was put out and people left the seen. After all that I went back to asleep.

My brother Jack was coming to town but it disappointed me that scout learned what a cuss word was and now she was saying them and debate I knew Jack wouldn’t like this. I was good to see him I only see him about twice a year including Christmas. He came and he seem to talk to Jem a lot but Scout was the one who really liked to talk to company.
Also something that upset me was that people at Scouts school were talking bad about me to Scout. I am not mad at the fact of them hating niggers just that how they have to make fun of my daughter just because I am doing my job. I know that in this time people weren’t happy about black people but they should hate me just because I am doing something that I have to do it is an acquaintance. I am not saying I am against my client and having to work with him but it is still by duty to do so. It doesn’t matter to me that if he is a black man it wouldn’t matter if it was a fly as long as he is my client.

Journal #1- Chapters 1-3 from the perspective of Jem

Me and scout where in the back yard having fun and messing around when we came along a new kid that we haven’t met. This was a very strange boy scout would even agree that this boy looked acquired. His name was Charles Baker Harris but he went by Bill. He would come during the school year but leave over the summer. This was nephew of Miss Stephanie Crawford. This was our neighbor that lived next to us. After having a conversation with Dill I could tell that this was going to be very strange with a person like Dill around. He still is very young like about 7 and was able to read.
I was right having Dill around was strange but not boring he bared me to go up to the Radley house and just put my hand on the house. I could back out because why would I. I can take any bare. So I ran up to the house and tapped it and then ran back. I thought that the Radleys son would come out and try to kill us. I have seen him walk around at night time in people backwards because I have seen him before. He has even been in our backward.
Soon enough Dill had to go and then before we new it school came along it was going to be scouts first time at school or at least first grade. I told her that school is easy and she would be able to handle it but I also had to brake it to her that at school I am hanging out with my friends and I don’t have time to be hanging out with you. I didn’t want to be mean it was just because that’s the only time I see my friends because I always play with her. Later that day I saw Scout and she was sad because her teacher was not letting her read during school because that isn’t what the school was teaching yet. This is something that Scout has to learn about school there are many rules and it hard to follow all of them.
I thought that it was going good in my classes at school and having fun meeting up with all my old friends. But as soon as I saw Scout again at school she was pushing this kid’s face into the dirt just because of a dilemma in class that happened earlier that day. I told scout that that was right at school and then we invited him over to eat as an apology from Scout.

Tis' review

Tis’ Review

by Mikito Wendell

The book I read was called Tis’ this was a very interesting book by the way the author talks about his situation of dealing with hard times and not having much money. The author has to face tragic obstacles involving his father decisions in life. You would never think about how a family being from a different country facing a different culture and language would survive dealing with difficult times. Their situation helped me realize what a lot of people have to do in order to survive and better their life; for example, coming to the states not knowing anyone, trying to start a new life and try to adapt to the lifestyle like the people in the states.

Frank McCourt, the main character, had to deal with a culture shock coming to the states by himself, and also had to find ways to make money to help his family. When he came to the states, he realized how it was and how difficult it was adjusting to the life style of a fast complex society. He had to do it fairly quickly and found a job as a teacher. There are manly things that people from different countries have to adapt to in the states, because other countries don’t run like the U.S. You would be surprised with what Frank McCourt had to deal with before he could settle down.

Frank McCourt didn’t come to America and just get a job and start sending money back to his family like he wanted to. He first explored the city to get a job from a very holly person just so that he can get started off in the states. One thing led to another and before he knew it he was doing things that he would never suspect to do. He got involved with the army and then came back to live a normal life as a civilian. These are all the things that you would never think about doing, but he can successfully say that he struggled, but lived through his life and was able to face a lot of challenges.

If you are the type of person that likes to see life from a different perspective, then this is a good book to read because Frank McCourt gives a good example of that situation. If you like to read about a lot of events that happen and find out how certain people overcome their situations and problems, then you will find this book very interesting.
