The quote I chose is on pg 105
“Mam makes the tea and it’s good to see she has decent cups and saucers now not like the old day when we drank from jam jars.”
This shows that they must have not had much money and needed to use cheaper materials to save money. I think that is why they came to the sates to live better lives and get more money to live a better life.
Q1: Do you think that you would be able to live in very hard conditions like they could of lived?

This quote is on page 102
“There’s one boy off the side who stands with his hand in his pocket and I can see he has two red scabby eyes in a face full of pimples.”
They are talking about a street kid and how he looks shows how they looked and what they would do since there was nothing they can do about the way they are living. I don’t think I would be able to survive at that time but I think I would be able to survive in today’s world but not back then because it was a lot harder then, then now.
