Final Post

“I don’t know they are but I’m not fond of’em.”

This is a very random quotes it may not sound like it means much but this shows that people aren’t use to trying other cultures food. I am glad that our country gives the freedom to eat whatever kind of food we want.

I think it would be hard eating only American food; I am grateful for having all types of food around me that I can try. Imagine if our community didn’t let people eat there native foods. We would have over half of the types of food we have right now.

What do you think you would do if you came to this country and tried a hamburger what would you think?

“No thanks, I’d rather be in my own bed, if you don’t mind.”

I know what he is meaning because I have had those days were you just want to be in your own world for a time just to get away from the world. I have said things close to things many times and I think I will say it even more.

I hope he doesn’t have much days life’s these because I know these aren’t the best days. This day is the day were you just want to sleep all day and not get up and just walk away to everyone that talks to you that you don’t want to be around.

Have you had one of those days?

Quote #1: “After that we went to the plot every day but Sunday and cleared it of rocks and stones till we reached earth and helped my father with the planting of potatoes, carrots, and cabbage.” Author.

This shows how hard they had to work everyday (but Sundays) and this is their normal life sure it is a job and everyone has a job but this is harder then just that they aren’t getting paid like everyone. If they want to survive they have to work. I wish people could understand how happy we should be for what we have.

I don’t think I can deal with that I wouldn’t want to try also. I think that would be to hard but I bet I could get use to it if I had too. I think I will never work as hard as he did for his father.

Qestion#1:Really ask your self would you be able to handle what he is doing?

Quote #2: “If my mother and father had been sent back I wouldn’t be on the deck with lights of Manhattan a sparkling dream before me.”

That is so sad that if that were to happened imagine not haven parents to help you with living your life. I now every kid wants to have freedom of parents but trust me you want you parents in your life as long as they can be in it for.

I know I would last that long with out my parents I would be able to survive on the streets but if I didn’t have parents I don’t think I would be able to do all that.

Quection#2: How long do you think you can last with out your parents?

Quote#1: Pg 170 last paragraph “When the war came and he was drafted and sent to Seattle it was the end of the marriage.” This was not the main character this was a girl (Mike) that came up to him and talk to him.

This shows that time back then was hard for not only the main character but for everyone. Time was very hard through war people got paid little and no money was mad because everyone got drafted to the army so no guys can work.

I feel bad for this girl because I would hate to live life with out my dad because it helps knowing that you have one and someone looking out for you. I think she has dealt with a lot of hard things in life as well.

Question#1: do you think the main character will get with Mike?

Quote#2: pg 161 1st paragraphs. “I was going to but my mother said if I ever turned Jewish she’d throw her herself off the gorge Washington bridge and between you and me I didn’t give a shit if she jumped and bounced off a passing tugboat.

This shows that how much Jews were hated back then. They didn’t even have a reason to hate them they hated them because they can breath. His mother didn’t want to him to turn into a Jew.
I wonder why did they hate them did people back then just need someone to pick on or something. And still to this day people still have something against Jews. I hope we can get over our hatred to religions and under stand that we all have our own beliefs and life styles.

Question #2: Why do you think everyone hated Jews.
